Lead work

Lead has been used for centuries to enable weathertight coverings to roofs. Used for its longevity and durability, lead is a flexible and soft malleable metal that protects properties from interior damage, mildew risks and leaks.

Compared to other metals, lead forms a layer of protective patina as it oxidises, mitigating against damage to the roof.

It is also aesthetically popular due to its long architectural tradition in the UK.

Lead is effective against:

- heavy rain

- heat exposure

- frost, snow, ice and hail

However, lead requires maintenance and upkeep to enable it to continue to have its weather resistant properties.
